New York State Junior Championships. 6SS, G/60 d10, Albany Marriott, 189 Wolf Road, Albany NY 12205. Free parking, wireless & airport shuttle, restaurants nearby.

In 8 sections.May be limited to the first 300 entries.

If a section draws less than 20 players, we may combine it with the other section announced for that age group. If this happens, prizes will remain as announced, with the place prizes in the “under” section becoming class prizes in the combined section.

Junior Championship & Junior Under 1500: Open to all born after 12/30/00.

Under 16 Championship & Under 16 Under 1200: Open to all born after 12/30/05.

Under 13 Championship & Under 13 Under 1000: Open to all born after 12/30/08.

Under 10 Championship & Under 10 Under 800: Open to all born after 12/30/11.

Entry fee: $68 online at chessaction.com by 12/23 (note change), $78 online by 12/28,  $90 online or at site until 9 am 12/29. No checks at site, credit cards OK.

Free entry prizes (good for 2022 CCA non-scholastic tournaments which have all prizes guaranteed, including online events): Championship sections 1/1-6/15 to1st, 1/1-4/15 2nd, 1/1-3/15 3rd & 4th. Under sections 1/1-5/15 1st, 1/1-3/15 2nd, 1/1-2/15 3rd &4th. Bonus to NY residents scoring 6-0: 2 additional months of free entry.

Unofficial or Online Regular uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. If Online Regular rating is 50 or more points over section maximum, not eligible for free entry prizes.

Special 1 year USCF dues with magazine if paid with entry. Online at chessaction.com, Young Adult $25, Youth $18.  Mailed or at site, $27 & $20.  USCF membership required.

CCA electronic devices policies

Ratings: December official USCF regular OTB ratings used. Unofficial or Online Regular uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. Players must reveal foreign, FIDE and other over the board ratings, and these ratings, adjusted if necessary, may be used, if higher than USCF.

Schedule: Reg ends 12/29 9 am, rds. 12/29 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm; 12/30 9 am, 12 noon, 3 pm. Awards 5:30 pm.
Half point byes: OK all rounds, limit 2; must commit before round 2.
